EXCELLENT EFFORT – EXCELLENT RESULTS AT COMPULSORY AND NATIONAL GRADES 2018

Sunday, April 1st, 2018

Jemima Taylor, Charlotte Lapsins and Katie Lewis all represented the Academy at the Compulsory Levels and National Grades last weekend. Jemima performed outstanding routines on the floor (5th), range and conditioning (3rd), vault (3rd), single bar and a slightly unsettled routine on the balance beam. Jemima secured 5th place overall in the competition and will be reserve for the Welsh team at the British Finals on 12/13th May 2018. Jemima scored over 60 points at the competition and this entitles her to enter the British Finals representing City of Newport Gymnastic Academy. Therefore if the top four gymnasts do compete at the finals, Jemima will compete for City of Newport. However, if a gymnast drops out of the competition Jemima will step in from the reserve position and compete for Wales at the event in May.
In the National Grade 2 competition, Charlotte Lapsins passed her grade with an excellent vault (4th) range and conditioning routine (3rd) and uneven bar routine. Her floor and balance beam exercises were not at their strongest on the day but enough to secure a pass at the competition. Charlotte positioned 10th overall in a tough, high standard competition.
In the National Grade 1 competition Katie Lewis positioned 4th overall and secured her Welsh team place at the British Finals at the end of May. Katie performed excellent routines positioning 4th on vault, 6th on bars, 3rd on beam, 2nd on floor and 3rd on the range and conditioning routine.
Well done girls – a great competition and good luck to Jemima and Katie at the British Finals!
