Naoki Gonzalez, Frasier Thomas and Tobias Stewart are selected to train with the Welsh development squad for a 12 month period. This is excellent news for both the boys and the academy. All 3 boys have accepted the placements and will start their squad training on Sunday 26th November at Swansea Gymnastic centre. WELL DONE BOYS!

Naoki Gonzales will represent Wales at the boys national development plan British Finals 3-5 November in Birmingham. This is an outstanding achievment and we wish him all the best at the finals. Frasier Thomas is one of the team reserves and although will not travel to the finals, has done exceptionally well to achieve this recognition.

The Academy will introduce a Saturday and Sunday Gym Club for beginners starting 30th September 2017. The classes will run as follows:

Saturday afternoon
1.30pm – 2.30pm
Children aged 4 – 7 years

3pm – 4pm
Children aged 8-11 years

Sunday Mornings

9.30am – 10.30am
Children aged 4 – 7 years

11am – 12 mid day
children aged 8 – 11 years

There will be a maximum of 20 spaces at each class to ensure quality of lessons and positive gymnastic development. Classes will be run by a CNGA qualified coach Level 2. Weekend classes are extremely popular, so please contact us early to avoid disappointment. The gym classes and payment for lessons will run exactly the same as the other classes during the week. 3 CNGA coaches attend Men’s Artistic Judge Course

Trudi Foster, Jen Lapsins and Carlos Gonzalez from the Academy will attend the Men’s Artistic Club Judge Course on Sunday 3rd September 2017. This is excellent progress for the academy who are developing their men’s artistic structure to support both recreational and competitive squad boys in the future. The course will qualify all 3 to judge at men’s artistic competitions across the UK. Good luck coaches !

Women’s Artistic ‘Levels’ Competition – September 9th/10th

Four competition squad girls will represent City of Newport Gymnastic Academy in the women’s artistic Welsh levels competition 9th/10th September 2017. The youngest gymnast – Jemima Taylor – aged 8 will compete in a Pre-level 4 competition in preparation for the compulsory level 4 competition in 2018. Jemima currently a member of the Academy, trains predominantly with the Welsh National coaching team in Cardiff. 11 year old Charlotte Lapsins and Ellie Rich will both compete in the level 4 out of age category and 16 year old Katie Lewis will compete in the level 3 out of age category on Sunday 10th September. All girls have worked very hard perfecting their routines for the competition. Good Luck girls from everyone at CNGA !

City of Newport Gymnastic Academy is now approaching a very busy period in the calendar. During September, gymnasts will represent the academy in the boys National Development Plan club grades in Cardiff, girls will compete in the Age group levels and regional 6 and 5 levels competition. A selection of girls will also represent the academy at the Quattro Cup in Wiltshire in October. The Academy will host its annual championships in November and a Christmas show in December. A selection of boys will also represent the academy at the annual floor and vault competition in December. Several coaches will be attending the men’s artistic judging courses in September and women’s artistic club judge course in October. There will be a significant amount of new members starting in September and a new Saturday/Sunday beginner class starting 30th September 2017. The academy is doing well and the standard of gymnastics and quality of coaching is improving all the time.

NEW MEMBERSHIP YEAR 2017/2018 – General Data Protection Regulation

Parents will now be involved in registering their own child/children and paying for their membership with British Gymnastics (on line) from 1sts October 2017. The academy will guide all members to this new procedure of registering their child in accordance with the governing body regulation and General Data Protection Regulation Policy.


As many of you may know we are in the process of moving premises and hopefully will be fully operational in the new premises by end of December 2017. We will keep all members up to date on the move. We would ask that anyone who can help with moving please contact the Directors of the Academy.
