The annual championships are almost upon us.  We returned to training yesterday (Tuesday 19th April) following a short Easter break.  The Tuesday improver classes worked well at preparing their routines – well done.   Please try to make sure that your child attends training prior to the event to practice their skills and for them to feel more confident about having a go at the competition.
Gym this evening 4.30pm for girls beginner classes including the Monday, Wednesday and Friday group. Also training for beginner boys class .  It will be a busy session today as we want the children who missed out on bank holiday Monday and the children who normally attend this Friday – get a chance to train today.  We are closed this Friday as already mentioned due to CNGA gymnasts taking part in a competition in North Wales.
Also, the competition squad girls training time this evening is 5.30pm to 8.30pm. and also tomorrow evening 5 – 7pm (optional) – due to Friday being closed this week.
Gym training will resume to normal next week and the week prior to the competition.
Entry fee for the gymnast

Just to remind everyone that the entry fee is £5 per gymnast,  to be paid at the gym this week or next at the very latest.  Thank you to everyone who has already paid and entered their child into the competition.

Boys outfits are available from the zone leotards.  The leotard type is ATLAS and the colour is white with kingfisher and navy stripe running through it.  The shorts are kingfisher colour.  The zone leotards UK staff will know which leotard you require when you mention that you are members of City of Newport.  Their telephone number is 01706 368819.  I have already emailed the boy’s parents with details of the leotard and shorts for the event.

Girls can wear their own leotard for this event.  We are in the process of opening our own ‘on line’ leotard shop with Little Stars leotards.  This is still in process and will not be ready in time for the annual championships. In the meantime we have a very limited supply of girls leotards on our rack in the club that you could purchase or, just wear your own leotard for this event. (crop top style leotards are not permitted).

From September 2022 we will expect all our gymnasts to be wearing the club leotard for training and events – both boys and girls.

Our motto at CNGA is ‘Participate, Enjoy, Achieve’.  We strongly advocate this throughout the time that your child is a member of our Academy.  The annual championships does have a competitive element and winning positions from 6th place to 1st place and this is celebrated with use of our podium at the end of each ROUND.  Children who do not place in the ‘top 6′ for their age group will be presented with a certificate  during the presentation of awards.  Everyone is valued equally and will be congratulated on their achievement.

On Saturday 7th May parents are asked to use the parking spaces outside our gym and not block/use the spaces in the business next door to our gym (57 Tyres). This has caused some issues previously, so we kindly ask all our parents to use the parking spaces outside our gym and further down in the car park (as opposed to outside the 57 Tyre business).  On Sunday 8th May, parking is not an issue, however parents are still kindly asked to use the parking slots outside the gym in the first instance.

Please kindly observe the speed limit (10mph) in the car park as there will be a lot of pedestrians walking to and from our gym for the event. over the weekend.

Gymnasts and spectators will use the main door into the gym. Spectators will be required to pay £3 each at the Reception desk to watch the ROUND that their child is competing in.  We will also be selling raffle tickets at Reception and Tina’s Cartwheel Cafe will be open for the usual refreshments and snacks.  The gym can comfortably provide 120 seats for viewing.  This means there are plenty of seats available for families to come and watch the event.  We do not reserve seats for this event.

All spectators will be kindly asked to promptly leave the gym after each Round to make room for the next Round of gymnasts and their families, as we are working to an efficient schedule for each ROUND.

Everyone’s safety is top priority at our gym. A Health and Safety Risk Assessment will be completed for the event including a dynamic risk assessment on the day.

There is appropriate disabled access into the venue and adequate provision  including disabled toilet access and a  baby changing room.  We also have comprehensive first aid provision at CNGA for gymnasts and all visitors.

We look forward to seeing as many of our members at this event.  Please let us know if you have any questions about our Academy or the annual championships. Thanks everyone.
