GREAT RESULTS FOR CNGA GYMNASTS AT FINALS

Tuesday, October 21st, 2025

Three CNGA gymnasts – Avalyn Halford, Jasmine Evans and Keeley Williams represented South East Wales at the Zinc and Copper finals over the weekend held at our Academy.

Avalyn competed in the 10 to 11 years category Zinc level. Avalyn performed her routines in Olympic order (Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor). Her vault was excellent with a Yurchenko back handspring entry, achieving 4th position ribbon place in the competition. Her bars were excellent with upstarts on both bars and just a slight mishap on landing pushing her out of the top six placements on bars. Her beam was excellent, no falls or wobbles. An amazing split jump connection and back walkover. her back somersault dismount landing perfectly. Avalyn placed SILVER medal position on the beam – wow! Her floor routine was excellent and impressed the judges yet again with her beautiful artistry and tumbling. Avalyn achieved BRONZE medal position on the floor – an excellent achievement for her first Welsh Finals!! Avalyn was also one of the five gymnasts in the South East Team and their team finished in GOLD MEDAL POSITION!! Well done South East and well done Avalyn!

Avalyn will now move up to Copper level competition for 2026 and will also start preparing for National Grades which will be held in March 2026 at CNGA.

Jasmine Evans (pictured below) competed in the 12 plus category ZINC Finals and was also one of five team members representing the South East Team. Jasmine performed her routines in the following order: BEAM, FLOOR, VAULT, BARS. Jasmine had a great start and performed a clean beam routine on the beam with no falls or wobbles. Her back walkover and split leap were amazing and her artistry was flowing throughout. Jasmine finished with a high tuck back somersault to land perfectly and she can be justly proud of her routine and performance for the South East Team. Jasmine did her floor routine well and performed a personal best with improved artistry and precise tumbling skills. Her vault was next and she performed two amazing Yurchenko back handspring entry vaults with great dynamism. Jasmine completed her competition on the uneven bars and did an excellent routine with a clean dismount landing. Although Jasmine did not manage a top six position overall or on the individual apparatus, her combined scores and her team won GOLD MEDAL POSITION!!! Well done South East and Well Done Jasmine!! – we are so proud of you!!

Jasmine will now also move up to Copper level competitions for 2026 and will be working on a re-structured bar routine and enhanced floor and beam routine.

Keeley Williams, who was brought into the 12 plus COPPER team only 4 days before the event had an amazing competition. Keeley also competed her apparatus in the following order: BEAM, FLOOR, VAULT, BARS. Keeley started with a much improved competition beam routine (no falls), albeit with some minor wobbles. However, her round off landed clean, her mixed series cat leap into cartwheel was amazing, as was her split jump combination, before finishing with a perfect landing from her somersault dismount. Next was her floor routine and Keeley performed this to a fantastic level as she did in the regional competition. Her final tumble was just slightly out, but the rest was to perfection – an amazing floor routine, and a well deserved BRONZE Medal position It was the vault next and Keeley performed this much better than in the regional competition – a half on full twist off to land. Her final apparatus was the uneven bars and Keeley performed this with great precision and flowing throughout. Her body tension was excellent and she executed her cast to handstand with great energy and control. Keeley had a great competition with BRONZE medals on the Floor and Bars, and a BRONZE TEAM. Keeley also placed FIFTH individual ribbon place overall – Well done South East and Well done Keeley – a fantastic competition!!! Keeley will now change some of her tumbling skills for the next competition and a new higher valued vault. Keeley is looking forward to the Gradings next March and will also compete for CNGA at the Regional competitions in 2026 and the GYMSTARS event in July next year.
