So what a day! Swansea Half you didn’t disappoint! ❤️ A great few miles around the City Centre and then what seemed like an eternity to get down to Mumbles! , but what views to take in and enjoy! A great atmosphere from start to finish, great entertainment all the way round and fab running conditions to help to another PB! I managed to get over the line with 1hour 39mins! With doing that, knocking 3mins off my last PB! So so pleased with that! Throughout the year, I’ve challenged myself by completing three half marathons: Newport, Bristol, and now Swansea, all while raising funds for my daughters amazing gymnastics club , City of Newport Gymnastics Academy (CNGA). When I started, I set myself a fundraising target of £600. Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of friends, family, and the local community, i am currently sat at an amazing £640! Which I’m totally blown away with! The money raised will go towards new gym equipment that will improve an already amazing gymnastics academy in CNGA. With my final challenge now complete, I’m so grateful for every donation, message of encouragement, and show of support along the way. Every contribution has helped make a real difference, and I couldn’t have got this far without you. Thank you all for your support — it means more than you know. ❤️ Donate here: https://gofund.me/07d027292 #SwanseaHalfMarathon #Fundraising #CNGA #HalfMarathon #RunningForACause #CommunitySupportView update

As many of our members know, the business next door to ours had a leak 10 days ago and as a result leaked into our premises and ruined our carpets. We are in the process of having new carpets fitted this Tuesday and Wednesday. This means unfortunately that viewing is not possible until the week commencing 16th June. Gymnastic lessons will carry on as normal this week but the viewing area will be out of action. We apologize for any inconvenience and as soon as the carpets are fitted and office equipment has been returned, we will resume our normal service at CNGA for parents to view their child’s lesson. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Congratulations Rich Halford on completing your third half marathon for CNGA! and a personal best to boot! Well done..
Rich finished his fund raising run in Swansea this morning and was supported by his family. We are delighted that he has raised £600 so far for the academy to purchase new foam blocks for the pit zone. It’s not too late to make a small contribution either on the GOFUNDME page or at the gym (donation bucket) or you can make a transfer today for as little as £1 or £2 with reference FUNDRAISER using the same bank details that you pay your monthly fees to. Any donation would be amazing!

Message from the Directors of CNGA Ltd
At CNGA, we’re fortunate to have supportive people like Richard Halford, whose generosity and commitment help keep our Academy thriving year after year.
Gymnastics equipment is costly to maintain and replace, and as a not‑for‑profit organization, we rely on fundraising and hosting events to remain financially sustainable. It’s through the kindness and dedication of individuals and families like Richard’s that we’re able to continue providing opportunities for every gymnast to learn, grow, and achieve.
Thank you Richard for everything you do for CNGA.

RICH HALFORD AIMING FOR ANOTHER PERSONAL BEST AT THE SWANSEA HALF MARATHON ON SUNDAY
Richard Halford will run his third half marathon in Swansea on Sunday 8th June 2026 to raise funds for our amazing gymnastic academy. Richard has already completed the Newport and Bristol half marathons and achieved a personal best at each one – Well done Rich!
Let’s all support Rich now as he does his third run for the club…you can make a small donation on the GO FUND ME PAGE link below or drop a donation into the bucket located on our Reception desk next week when you bring your child to gym.
Due to circumstances beyond our control – there will be no access to viewing the beginners or improver classes from today 3rd June until further notice. It is hoped that everything will be back to normal from Wednesday next week (10th June).
Last weekend, the business located next door to CNGA had a major water leak which spilled over into our gym and ruined the carpets in all the offices and behind the vaulting area.
We will be having new carpets laid next Tuesday/Wednesday morning but as you can imagine, all the offices and storage items will need to be safely stored in our viewing area. We have to start emptying the offices today in order for the carpets to be uplifted and allow the sub-concrete to dry out before the new carpets are fitted.
This does affect viewing from today and we hope all will be resumed as normal next Wednesday. We apologise for this inconvenience, but these works are essential to maintain a safe gymnastic environment moving forwards.
Thank you to all our parents/carers for your patience and understanding this week.

CNGA held it’s 2oth annual championships last weekend with gymnasts participating from Reception age to 17 years old. Over 150 children took part at this year’s championships.
The Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 girls demonstrated skills on the bars, floor, balance beam and practice vault and all received a warm reception from the audience for their amazing efforts – well done! The year 2 girls were also introduced to competitive gymnastics and were awarded the top six positions as a subtle introduction before transiting to Year 3 in school.
Year 3 and Year 4 followed with their competition on the Saturday afternoon and what a tough contest it was!! Congratulations to all the girls who took part. Everyone gave their best on the day and the top six places were decided by the senior coaches who judged the routines on all four apparatus.
On Sunday 17th May, the Year 5 and upwards to Year 9 competed in their championships and everyone performed amazing on all four apparatus. Congratulations again to all the girls who took part. You were awesome!!
The final round of the day was the artistic competition squad. The Academy invited four external judges to officiate at their competition. All gymnasts performed superb routines and impressed the judges with their vaults, bars, beam and floor routines.
A total of fifteen trophies were awarded to the top spot at each category and age group and a total of 200 medals were awarded to the gymnasts over the weekend. Tina’s Cartwheel Cafe kindly donated the medals and trophies for this event and also awarded some beautiful hand-crafted placements for 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th place. Rich Halford completed the Bristol Half Marathon last Sunday and a personal best too! Here is an up to date statement from the marathon man himself
‘So, Bristol Half Marathon complete with a PB! What a day! Early alarm set for this morning to get over the bridge to Bristol for my first run outside of Wales, and what a day it was! Amazing atmosphere on a fantastic and well run event! Plenty of support all the way around Bristol City Centre and the long hog down the endless Portway straight was brutal, but the drums and music were definitely keeping me in the game! Hammys were twitching between mile 8 and 9, but smashed my last gel and kicked on! I had a game plan for my time, keep sub 8mins per mile, get a dozen fast and i could get a PB. Which I did, and I’m super happy with a time of 1:42:38s. Banging! Thanks for everyone’s support, means a lot! Xxxx So a little recap for everyone, I’m running three half marathons this year! Newport, Swansea and Bristol, fundraising for a fantastic gymnastics academy, CNGA. City of Newport Gymnastics Academy. Please help out and donate if you can, no matter how small a donation, as every penny counts. A Here’s my go fund me link https://gofund.me/07d027292
Many thanks,
Rich. X
