Monday, September 22nd, 2025

The event also included a ‘warm up’ event for the Bronze, Silver, Gold, FIG 1, FIG 2 and Pre-Excel categories who will compete in Sport Wales National Centre on Saturday 27th September 2025.

A total of twenty nine gymnasts entered this competition from CNGA. Below are the details of each category and age group.

9 IN YEAR COMPETITION ZINC Category

Five gymnasts competed for CNGA at this level. All gymnasts did amazing and we are so proud of their effort at the competition. Well done to Arden in her first competition – great job!

We want to say a huge well done to Evie Traves picture below on her crutches – who did a fantastic floor routine only to land awkwardly on her leg at the end of her routine during an amazing forward somersault and injuring her knee. We all wish Evie a speedy recovery. The judges remarked on how lovely her interpretation to music was and Evie actually placed fifth on the floor exercise. Well done Evie!! Get Well soon from everyone at CNGA!

Keeley Williams represented the Academy in this competition. Her training colleague – Moridiat Olagunju is currently out with a knee injury and we hope to see her back at training soon.

Keeley did an amazing job and started with a brilliant gold winning floor routine to music. Keeley scored a huge 12.1 and the judges remarked on a fantastic performance. Her next apparatus was the uneven bars. Again Keeley performed the best routine she had ever done and placed gold on this apparatus with a fantastic upstart into handstand start to the routine.

Keeley then moved to the vault which she did well scoring a 10.75 for her half on full twist off. The vault landed safely the score reflected her attempt. Keeley finished her competition on the beam, which did not quite go to plan on the day. However, Keeley finished with two gold medals and an overall sixth place. she did not quite make finals this year by 0.2. We were so proud of Keeley for her amazing effort at the Copper competition.

GREAT START TO OUR FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN

Sunday, September 7th, 2025

Well done to volunteer Mike and his daughter – senior gymnast Evie Thorpe who both did a 5km walk and raised £85 as part of our big fund raising campaign – wow! this is amazing!! We are so grateful for Mike’s fantastic support at CNGA. He has done a tremendous amount of ‘behind the scenes’ work at the club not to mention the volunteer support with the children at the beginner and improver classes. Evie is also one of our CNGA leaders helping the coaches with the beginner classes. Thank you both for your incredible fund raising and support of the Academy !!!

UPDATE ON HEALTH AND SAFETY IN GYMNASTICS

Monday, August 18th, 2025

All gymnasts, parents/carers are reminded that jewellery is not to be worn for gymnastic classes. This includes all forms of jewellery (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, piercings – anything).

All items of jewellery should be removed before participation. As a temporary measure, newly pierced ears can have stud earrings – but these need to be covered with tape from home prior to arriving at the gymnastic lesson. Stud earrings must also be removed for lessons, as soon as the newly pierced ears have healed.

Thank you for your continued co-operation with regards to Health and Safety in the Gymnastic lesson.

SOUTH EAST WALES PREPARATION AND DEVELOPMENT GRADES

Sunday, April 13th, 2025

Nine CNGA gymnasts competed at the South East Prep and Development Grades on the weekend. The girls were all working to achieve a grade, rather than an individual position overall. There were top 6 places awarded on each apparatus (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor and Ranges) but the main focus was that all our gymnasts achieved either one of the following grade passes

WORKING TOWARDS – scoring a total of 49.9 or below

WORKING AT – scoring at the appropriate level and achieving a total score between 50 and 54.9

WORKING ABOVE – scoring above the requirement of the level and achieving a total score between 55 and 59.9

WORKING BEYOND – scoring above the requirement of the level and achieving a total score above 60

Preparation 1

Evie Traves and Primrose Richards competed at this level. Both girls were amazing and performed fantastic routines. They did not quite achieve top 6 positions at the competition but both gymnasts can be super proud of their grading result. Well done Prim and Evie!!

Primrose – Working At and Evie – Working Above

Preparation 2

Ava Traves and Skye Hooper competed at this level. Amazing effort from both gymnasts and we are so proud of their performances. This was a very competitive field and Ava managed to secure 4th place on the Bars and 4th place on the Ranges routine – well done Ava! Skye has also worked exceptionally hard and this paid off with her grading achievement at this competition. Well done Ava and Skye!!

Skye – Working At and Ava – Working Above

Development 1

Avalyn Halford, Leah Tremaine and Anastazja Zmudowska competed at this level. Another excellent effort from all three gymnasts with a couple of minor issues on the bars and beam. All three girls can be justly proud of their efforts at this very competitive grading.

They all started on floor exercise and completed their competition on the balance beam.

Avalyn positioned 2nd place on the vault, 1st place on the beam (wow!) and 5th place overall. Amazing achievement – well done Avalyn!

Leah did fantastic routines on every apparatus and although did not quite make a top 6 position on each apparatus, managed to position 10th overall – well done Leah!

Anastazja also performed her routines well on the day. Her floor routine was excellent and she managed to positioned 3rd in the competition on this apparatus – well done Anastazja!
